Spoon Carving Workshop with Emily's Carving Zone Saturday, November 7th 12 - 3 PM

This three-hour workshop introduces you to the fundamentals of wood carving. By the end, you’ll gain hands-on experience, a deep appreciation for the meditative and captivating aspects of wood carving, and the essential techniques, confidence, and resources to pursue carving independently.

Once you've developed proficiency with spoons, you'll possess the skills to confidently tackle intricate projects. This workshop provides the technical foundation upon which all advanced carving skills are built.

Class fee includes greenwood blanks for carving, carving tool kit and anti-cut gloves to take home, personalized instruction and encouragement.

Emily is a self taught wood carver, quilter and crafter living in Chicago. She carves wooden spoons and utensils using entirely hand tools.  All of her material comes from scavenged and found wood from around the city - usually collecting wood after storms or tree trimming in parkways and city parks. She enjoys creating simple and functional pieces that bring us closer to the everyday raw materials available in the city environment.

Join us in the Third Season Design Studio located at 1516 W Carroll Ave. Please enter on the Justine side of the building. Weather permitting we may tour The Roof Crop Headquarter's green roof.
