Bio

Craig Wattrus is a South African who grew up in the sawdust of his parent's woodshop. Now living and working in Chicago, his career has taken him from a computer science degree in his hometown of Johannesburg, South Africa, to working as a product designer in Cape Town, India, Ghana, and the USA. After ten years in the software industry, he started Maatskappy (Afrikaans for 'company'), focusing on building low-waste, locally made, sustainable everyday products that generate demand for sustainable manufacturing and materials.

Craig's designs are influenced by his digital design background, appreciation for simplicity, careful use of color, and desire to let the materials shine.
