Clay Carving Workshop with Monsoon Pottery Saturday, May 10th 11am-2pm
Join Chicago-based Danielle Chutinthranond of Monsoon Pottery for a blue and white clay carving workshop and create an original porcelain plate. Learn the history of blue and white wares and the basics of the inlay technique, while enjoying light bites and refreshments from Third Season and What Margie Made. Danielle will discuss the power of the traditional Asian symbols and the motifs she references in her own work and encourage you to craft your own. We recommend bringing ideas and line drawings you like for reference.
Ticket cost includes:
- One small porcelain plate (to be picked up after firing)
- A history lesson on blue & white wares and the inlay technique
- Hands-on instruction on the inlay technique
- Guests have to option to purchase an additional plate to carve during the workshop for $40
- Refreshments including light bites from What Margie Made
This workshop will donate $20 from the price of the ticket to KAN-WIN, a non-profit organization that focuses on ending gender-based violence by providing comprehensive, survivor-centered services. These services include education and outreach to Asian American communities and beyond.
Saturday, May 10 11:00am-2:00pm
