Danielle Chutinthranond (she/her) is a daughter of Thai immigrant restaurateurs and the artist behind Monsoon Pottery. Her background in food informs her clay practice and she has made a career of creating pottery for enjoying food and tea. Cultural context and firsthand understanding of how to use vessels is paramount to her; form must follow function. She has outfitted many of Chicago’s favorite restaurants such as: Maxwells Trading, Giant, Omakase Room, Boonies, and more.
Danielle enjoys researching the Art History of ceramics and considers Asian Art History a large source of inspiration in her work. She enjoys re-interpreting historical forms, techniques, and finishes for the contemporary home. As a workshop instructor, she hopes to inspire others to create their own rituals and practices that encourage reflection and introspection. Outside of tea and pottery, Danielle enjoys journaling, reading, attending lectures, and visiting museums.
